Education is a core pillar of harm reduction and of everything we do at Overdose Lifeline. By delivering accurate, nonjudgmental, and life-saving information, we empower individuals and communities to prevent overdose, reduce stigma, and create pathways to support and recovery.
Saving Lives Through Knowledge
When people are equipped with clear, actionable knowledge, they can make safer decisions. Our accredited Guide to Harm Reduction course helps health professionals, caregivers, and community members learn how to support individuals who use drugs, how to administer naloxone, and how to use fentanyl test strips—tools that are proven to save lives.
Reducing Stigma and Opening Doors
Stigma is one of the biggest barriers to seeking help. That’s why we offer programs like Removing the Shame and Stigma of Addiction, which educate people on the science of addiction and how language, culture, and policy shape our collective response. When we reduce stigma through education, we make space for healing and connection.

We know that harm reduction isn’t one-size-fits-all. Our courses and community programs are built around the principles of inclusion, equity, and cultural sensitivity. By addressing barriers, we ensure that harm reduction tools—like syringe service programs and overdose prevention kits—are available to those who need them most, in a way that respects their lived experience.
Lifespan Learning: From Youth to First Responders
Education at Overdose Lifeline reaches every stage of life. Our award-winning youth prevention program, This Is Not About Drugs (TINAD), has helped thousands of students better understand opioid risks and how to respond in a crisis. First responders, educators, and healthcare professionals also access CE-accredited training that builds confidence and saves lives.
